Aquatic environment provides numerous resources that support human life in different ways. Out of the entire aquatic organisms that are used as a food, fish has a very special consideration in human civilization from time immemorial. Growing of the awareness of the fish nutritional values brought it to the fore to be one of the most important diets to be served on table. The food demands are increasing constantly because the population of the earth is growing all time. To meet this demand we not only required to increase the food production but also use them in a sustainable manner. The fish production has reached a plateau and no further increase from coastal water is possible. The scope for increasing fish production from marine sources now lies in the deep sea and far off near fishing areas, and from aquaculture. This book therefore, provides informations on different aspects of ecology, biology and fisheries of the species Sillago sihama from Goa waters,India for fish catch improvement and culture possibilities. This work should be useful to professionals in fishery biology, fisheries and aquaculture.

Dr.Ebtisam Shamsan got her B.Sc in 1993, dept. of Biology, Sana´a university. Worked(1993-1998) as a demonstrator in the same dept. In 2002 got her M.Sc degree from Bangalore university, India. She got her ph.D degree from Goa university,India, 2008.A t present she is assistant professor in the dept. of Biology, Sana´a university, Yemen.
