This thesis describes a set of related experiments and computational studies concerned with the recognition of human affect from visually observable behavior. The work is aimed at improving the understanding of the relationship between emotion and external behavior as well as providing a basis for the development of potentially beneficial technology.

Dr. Abdul Rehman Abbasi is Principal Engineer at the Advanced Computing Lab, KINPOE, Karachi Pakistan. He received his Ph.D. in Mechatronics Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in 2009. He received his BE in Electrical Engineering, and MS in Computer Science from the N.E.D. University, Karachi, Pakistan.
