Many studies, around the world, have been undertaken in an attempt to identify project risks that most impact on the ability of project managers to bring software development projects in on time, under budget and to scope. This study produces its own South African lists of ranked risk factors deemed necessary of management for the duration of the project. A correlation is then done against several studies from around the world to determine the uniqueness of South African risk factors. These risks are then categorized into the nine elements of the Work System Framework in an attempt to bring about a better understanding of software development project risks by business managers.
