Having a worthwhile sense of self is related to success for persons with / without disabilities.The Study of the self-concept is the study of individual differences. It can be most readily in Undertaken situations where differences are maximized. One way of doing this is by considering the impact of physical disability upon the person´s concept of self.How various abilities of an individual translated into a concept of self and notions of self-worth is expected to have practical implications for interventions to raise self-esteem. Previous studies on self-concept of persons with physical disabilities have yielded discrepant results.This book aimed to shade light on the relationship that existed between physical disabilities and the various domains of self- concept. This book has addressed the impact of physical disabilities on the development of self- concept. It had further dealt with the various kinds of self-concept along with their relationship with variable such as gender and spirituality. It is intended to help scholars, parents and researchesrs in the field of special education need.
Mengistie Rebsso Borya has obtained his BA degree in Educational Psychology and his MA degree in Special Needs Education from Addis Ababa University. He has been working as a lecturer at Mekelle University. He is now pursuing his doctoral study in Applied Developmental Psychology at Addis Ababa University.
