This research study conducted by Handun Rasari Athukorala as part of her BA (Hons) studies in the Department of Sociology at the University of Colombo is an in-depth case study of psychosocial wellbeing of the female workers in the Export Processing Zone in Sri Lanka. This study makes a worthwhile contribution to the understanding of the lives of female workers and social realities in a workplace. Utilizing both qualitative and quantitative research methods, she successfully brings forth voices of female factory workers, which are not always heard or represented. This study is a successful attempt in a holistic´ understanding of women´s lives in a factory setting, taking a wellbeing approach. This is an important piece of scholarly work especially for researchers in organizational management, social and behavioural studies as well as in women´s studies.
