Today´s global economy increasingly places a premium on knowledge-based skills and attitudes. In the 21st Century, Africans will have greater opportunities to earn income, advocate policies, and increase their social capital when they have access to education. In Africa, the links between females´ education and sustaining the development process are proven and strong. The objective of this study was to identify the key variables that affect the participation of females in the educational system of Africa by taking Tigray, Ethiopia as a case and then recommend appropriate solutions for minimizing the gender gap in the shortest possible time. A total of 1970 randomly selected individuals participated in the study by giving their views on how the participation of females in Africa in general and Tigray, Ethiopia in particular can be enhanced. The research has shown us that eradication of poverty and injustice will simply not be possible without ensuring the participation of females in the educational system. Results also show that gender equality can be ensured at all levels of education of Tigray, Ethiopia within twenty-five years time.
