We introduce a new optimization theory for stencil-based applications which is centered both on a modi cation of the well known owner-computes rule and on base but powerful properties oftoroidal spaces. The proposed optimization techniques provide notable results in di erent computational aspects: from the reduction of communication overhead to the reduction of computation time, through the minimization of memory requirement without performance loss.Massimiliano received his Ph.D in computer science at the University of Pisa in 2010. His main research interests range from parallel programming environments for multi-core architectures to new optimization techniques for stencil based parallel applications.
