Over the past decade, the Internet has become a significant Information Technology infrastructure of choice, supporting a range of organizations´ core business processes across different sectors. However, while there are concerted efforts to promote Internet status of Libraries and Information Centers in Kenya, there are still limited indicators of its integration by most university libraries. Recognizing the individual´s role in defining the level of Information and Communication Technologies use within an institution, this work examines the nature, magnitude and interrelationships of factors that influence librarians´ initial response and subsequent assimilation of the Internet. Using a myriad of theories and models, it analyses how cognitive, affective, personality differences and contextual factors serve as both antecedents and consequences of each other in their overall influence on individuals´ internet adoption and assimilation response. The analysis re-enforces the need to have a multidisciplinary, multifaceted approach in exploring ICT adoption and assimilation patterns.
