The progress in health care today is rapidly moving forwards. Medicines are an important part of modern healthcare and the pharmacy profession plays an important key role in delivering safe, efficient and cost effective treatment. In Scotland there are examples of some of the best practice in pharmaceutical care. The Scottish Government has set out different action plans and strategies to guarantee a uniform health care. These documents underline the growing importance of pharmaceutical care and emphasise ensuring every patient receives care from a clinical pharmacist during his/her hospital stay. This book aims to explore the role of a clinical pharmacist in improving a patients healthcare plan as well as to implement prudent antibiotic prescribing.
