The sorts of activities that constitute research processes are not end at the stage of experimentation rather extends to its communication to end users. Hence, expressing own ideas clearly and persuasively is at the center of writer´s duty. The author begins by highlighting the basic concepts underlying academic writing that covers important key functions. Due attention was given for structure and style of writing in the second chapter while the third chapter presented the role and functions of literature review. The fourth chapter of the book is concerned largely with the methodological approaches in research. It considers in detail the importance of statistical analysis of different types. The remaining chapters cover the basics of reporting research findings, citation and referencing, formatting style of academic writings and finally the communication of research results. Concern of the author throughout the book is to present basic concepts on academic writing within a broader context of research writing. Students, junior researchers and those with an interest in the basic principles of academic writing will all find much useful things in this book.

Dejene K. Mengistu holds his B.Sc. degree (crop science) from Mekelle University and M.Sc. degree (INRM) from University of Wales, Bangor.
