The scientific study of the nervous systems underwent a significant increase in the last two decades, principally due to research at receptor level and revolutions in technology that has led to utilize more sophisticated methods for monitoring physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and molecular biology of the brain in health and disease. This book "Neurochemistry, Neuropharmacology and Behavior" is an attempt to address and document neurochemistry, neuropharmacology and behavioral at cellular level. The aim is to provide an overview of the science behind our understanding of brain function in health and disease. A central point of the book is that drugs alter the neurochemistry of the central nervous system at pre or postsynaptic sites and that these changes form the common scientific basis for behavior in health and disease.
Dr Darakhshan Haleem (Ph. D from British Post graduate Medical Federation, Institute of Neurology, London University) is Professor of Neurochemistry/Neuropharmacology and Dean Faculty of Science, University of Karachi, author of more than 250 research articles and has been actively engaged in both teaching and research for over 30 years.
