Agricultural extension fails to help shoat producers and investors to prepare balanced ration from locally available feed resources due to lack of research based nutritional information. Study was conducted across six wereda representing arid and semi arid agro-ecologies in four administrative zones of Tigrai Regional State, with the objectives of: (1) assess feed resources of sheep and goats and quantify their feeding value, (2) determine the constraints with regard to their availability and (3) Undertake a feeding trial to evaluate their immediate impact on sheep. Yield estimations for crop residue, crop aftermaths, hay, natural pasture and fodder trees was made. Moreover, nutritional values analysis, feeding and diet selection trials were performed for selected feed types. CRD with four treatment combinations was designed. The control diet was barley straw and nough cake. The supplements were 200gram leaves of three selected browses. Sheep were used to assess total DMI, WG and carcass characteristics.
