Urbanization is one of the most important indicative factors of economic growth and development of any country. Nevertheless, the developing countries are not getting the optimum level of agglomeration benefits from urbanization due to the absence of effective spatial development policies; conversely most of the cities and towns in the developing world are facing various challenges like traffic congestion, environmental pollutions, unplanned urban growth, widening the regional income disparity etc. This book is a combination of quantitative and qualitative analyses of urbanization and spatial development between a developed and developing economy of two Asian countries. Muhammad Abu Kawsar is an Urban and Regional Planner. Since 2006, he has been working as Assistant Chief in the Ministry of Planning, Bangladesh. He has interest in urbanization & spatial development, infrastructure planning, monitoring & evaluation of development projects,spatial aspects of climate change etc.
