There is a growing interest in studying the connection between land use patterns and travel behaviour. This is not surprising in times of increasing consciousness of the negative consequences caused by pollution, congestion and traffic accidents as well as of the role that spatial separation of residence, job, shopping and recreation locations has played. The book analyzes the relation between land use pattern and travel behaviour. Specifically, the author has looked how mixed land use affects the travel behaviour on example of the case study area of Messestadt Riem, Munich, Germany. Urban-form factors - land use and accessibility and non-urban factors -age, gender, family status and number of children in the household were used as parameters for measurement. The analysis has demonstrated the impact of these factors on the individual´s propensity to undertake trips for work, shopping and recreation using different types of transport modes such as car, public transportation, bicycle or walking.
