This book focuses on communicative competence in English as a second language (ESL). It seeks to explore debating as a language activity and its impact on learners´ communicative competence. Therefore, it justifies the need for students to engage in activities like debating that promote interaction with English as a second language. Virginia Mutheu Paul-Mutei holds B.ED (English & Literature), postgraduate diploma (Public Relations), MPhil. (Educational Communication Technology - English) and currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Communication Studies at Moi University, Kenya. She has taught English language for over 10 years in high school , college and university levels.
