There is an inadequacy in research on female childhood and adolescence. While some studies on socialization have provided a world view of girlhood in India few have taken adolescent girls as the focus. The general purpose of this study is to assess self-image and self-esteem level of female students in private intermediate colleges. The present study is limited to four high schools having English as a medium of instruction in Vishakhapatnam city. The result of this study is intended to be significant for teachers and school principals in specific, and for curriculum developer as well as educational policy makers in general. In this study it is revealed that girl students own positive attitude than negative attitudes towards themselves. That means, they possessed positive orientation regarding to themselves. The level of self esteem of girl students is also found to be moderate to high level.I am Alebachew Hailu.
