This research study was aimed at finding out the role of metacognition in enhancing students learning. This was a review based study Metacognition means knowing about cognition. Extensive review of related literature reveals that metacognition helps students in improvement learning. It develops higher order thinking. Metacognition improves mental approach to reach the solution of any problem. Self regulation is a part of metacognition. Self regulation is a process of continuous progress towards a goal. Our findings prove that metacognition improves cognitive Performance and especially it is useful in mathematics. The outcomes of this study should be especially useful for teachers and students of all educational sectors, for all individuals and professionals, and all stakeholders in the Education and Learning sector.
