Negative Capability is fundamentally the poet´s aptitude of abandoning his intellectual self in order to contemplate as generously as possible. The research work aims at giving a handful account on how the poets, Keats and Shakir, of two different ages, geographical regions and languages, equalize in using this specific poetic technique in their work. Keats and Shakir regard Negative Capability as freedom from the restraints of reasoning and reality. They advocate the removal of rational self with the aim of raising feelings in reader´s heart. The constituents of Negative Capability include surrender to passion and feeling, abstract thinking, paradoxes leading to ambiguity and unconcluded ends of poems. One principle they seem to observe is to accept the things as they are, without trying to apply any logic. The research effort would be useful for other researchers as it devices a new methodology in order to analyze the poetry of two poets, Keats and Shakir, under the concept of Negative Capability. Division of this concept into elements can make further research easier.
