This book evaluated the determinants of farmers´ decision to adopt improved chickpea varieties and their decision on intensity of use of the improved variety in three districts of Ethiopia. It also examined the effect of adoption of the variety on the market integration level of smallholder farmers in the study area.Adoption of improved chickpea variety was analyzed using the double hurdle model which is composed of the probit model (that models the likelihood of adoption) and the truncated regression model (that models the intensity of use). The propensity score matching method was also employed to model the effect of adoption of the variety on the market integration level of smallholder farmers in the study area.Linking agricultural technology adoption and market integration in the sector has a vital role for agriculturally-oriented economies. The book has important policy advises for those who formulate and implement agricultural sector policies.
