Modeling spatial patterns is a prerequisite in understand the regional divergences of urban development of an area. Contemporary urbanization is one of the most spectacular global social transformations of the present; consequences of which are not uniformly spread spatially and perhaps there exists wide spatial divergences in economic growth and urban development among regional locations. This book would undergo a number of analytical techniques, for example multivariate analysis techniques, Moran´s I etc. to investigate the existing level of regional divergence of urban development in Bangladesh. Finally, spatial models of regional divergences have been derived using geographic information system (GIS). Results show that in most cases, Dhaka division explores the highest divergences. Formulation of sustainable urban development policies, focusing particularly on balanced urban growth is necessary to ensure homogeneous distribution of the prospects of urban development in Bangladesh. This book explores the analytical ways to researchers and scholars in the field of urban and regional development planning for studying the spatial patterns of development.
