Evidence indicates that no stratum in the social set-up is spared the problem of drug abuse, the youths being one of the most affected vulnerable groups together with prostitutes, touts and street children. Drug abuse among students is associated with a number of adverse healths, educational and social consequences. We need to begin by learning why people abuse drugs; too often we fight symptoms rather than the reasons of drug abuse, consequently we fail to solve the problem. It is in this light that this book specifically aims at expaining the extent and relationship between school environment, peer group pressure, family background and role of media on drug abuse among secondary school students´. The book also suggests various ways that can be employed to reverse the current trends.
