Part A and part B is the Studies on the Chemical Constituents of Ocimum basilicum and centella asiatica. As a result seven pure compounds were obtained from Ocimum basilicum which include four new compounds namely basilimoside (1), basilavone (2), ferulate (3) and ocimueugenol (4) and three known constituents. Studies on the Chemical Constituents of Centella asiatic afford two new compounds named as asiaticin (I) and centellicin (II). Part C is the Synthesis of Lawsonicin and its related dihydrobenzofuran derivative The acetyl derivative of lawsonicin caused 100% inhibition of growth of Mycobacterium tuberculi at 6.25 µg/ml. Due to its potential biological activity and in order to confirmthe structure we chose to synthesize lawsonicin andidentified its further biological studies.
