Exclusive Breastfeeding is recommended in the first six month of life because breast milk is uncontaminated and contains all the nutrients necessary for children. Because of this, UNICEF and WHO have recommended that children have to be exclusively breastfed during the first six month of life. It helps to reduce infant mortality due to common childhood illness, such as diarrhoea, pneumonia and helps for a quicker recovery during illness. Book shows that majority of mothers of rural area, having primary education level, middle economic status, antenatal visit less than four times, home delivery, vaginal delivery and early initiation of breast feeding practiced more exclusive breast feeding. Mother, who had delivered by caesarean section, had been found less practice of exclusive breast feeding. This book helps to provide the baseline data on the factors that promote and hinder the exclusive breast feeding which will be useful for health planners and heath educators.
