Writing is a difficult skill for both teachers to teach and learners to learn. Most EFL teachers complain about the poor quality of essays written by their learners. Many writing problems persist such as rhetorical, mechanical, linguistic, and grammatical features. These problems disrupt the semantic congruence of their essays. Recent studies have shown that the skill of writing can best be taught and acquired through communication. Thus, researchers have started to integrate the Internet as a medium for communication in FL and SL teaching, especially writing to provide the type of interaction that the FL and SL learners need. Besides, it promotes learners´ autonomy, motivation, and increases their writing quality. The present book is based on a research conducted to examine the effectiveness of asynchronous online communication as a teaching tool on EFL learners´ essay writing. The book is of great use for both researchers and teachers who seek to improve the process of teaching by manipulating innovative and up-to-date techniques.
