Dalitis are a particular caste people living in India who are considered out-caste by the other caste people. The Author highlights the historical development of dalits their conflict, identity, tolerance, and the present day dalits reality.Dalits are not treated properly with respect in Indian society.Dalits are treated very worse and the common man neglects them. They are segregated in all spheres of social life,in places of worship, education, housing, land ownership, use of common property resources such as wells, village water taps, roads, hbuses and other public places. Violations and atrocities against the dalits are increasing day by day. The violence against dalits can be removed only by the spirit of love, tolerance, and mutual understanding and generosity of other community people. Dalits living in the rural areas are still facing a lot of problems even though so many government schemes are provided for the benefit of dalits. In remote villages, the status of dalits is very low. This book highlights the problems and issues related to dalits in India and their identity with the real life situations.
