An illusion about excellent teacher educators is ´they are born and not produced.´ Extensions of this myth are that best practices of teacher educators are natural, and exceptional teacher education programmes are almost impossible to develop. Such beliefs have influence the quality of best practice delivery in teacher education. The findings of this investigation, as stated in "Primary Teacher Education in Trinidad & Tobago: A Best Practice Framework," offset these myths. All teacher educators have the scope and capability to become excellent best practice advocates. This can be done through well thought out teacher education programmes with a best practice focus, whose curricula have been developed around tried and proven teacher education models and supported by documented educational theories and research. This book gives an overview of the teacher education programmes taking place at the three major universities in Trinidad, as seen through the eyes of its administrators and teacher educators. Following that analysis, an eclectic framework of a best practice model is formulated and recommended to reinforce primary teacher education in Trinidad & Tobago.
