Providing people with sufficient food is the major problem that is facing Ethiopia. Very few and incomplete research works have been conducted to demystify the possible relationship between Per Capita Food Availability (PCFA) and other demographic, social and economic variables. In this research, PCFA was taken as indicator of food security status. 250 PCFA was taken as the benchmark between food secure and food insecure households. Then PCFA was later correlated and regretted with selected demographic, social and economic variables. Results from the study portrays that, from 400 selected sample households 43.2% (173) were food insecure and 56.8% (227) were food insecure. Moreover the mean, maximum and minimum PCFAs were 243.74, 950, and 0 KGs respectively. The research also revealed that, most landless, large family sized, female led households, unmarried, nonusers of agricultural inputs and young led households were found food insecure. Educational level and ox/oxen possession are positively correlated with PCFA. There is a need to seek solutions from demographic, social and economic points of view in order to curve the existing problem in a sustainable way.
