Frauen-Power pur: Die Fotografinnen der Helsinki School stellen sich vor

Mittlerweile zählt die Fotografie zu den Exportschlagern Finnlands; die Absolventen der University of Art and Design Helsinki stellen ihre Bilder weltweit aus. Ausgesprochen erfolgreich waren auch die bisherigen Bände der Buchreihe The Helsinki School, die sich diesen jungen Künstlern und ihren Arbeiten widmet. Der mittlerweile vierte Band der Reihe richtet das Augenmerk auf die Künstlerinnen und fragt nach einem speziell weiblichen Blick. Innovative Konzepte und Techniken sowie formale Vielfalt kennzeichnen die Arbeit dieser Fotografinnen-Generation von den dokumentarischen Grönlandbildern von Tiina Itkonen über die wie Bühnenbilder inszenierten Innenräume von Anni Leppälä bis hin zu den malerisch aufgefassten Naturstudien von Sandra Kantanen reicht dabei das Spektrum. Timothy Persons stellt 20 Künstlerinnen vor und präsentiert deren höchst individuelle künstlerische Positionen.

Photography has in the meantime become one of Finlands biggest exports. Graduates of Aalto University´s Schlool of Art and Design in Helsinki exhibit their pictures around the globe. Also extraordinarily successful are previous volumes of The Helsinki School, a series devoted to these young artists and their works. Now, the fourth volume of the series focuses on female artists, inquiring into the possibility of a special female point of view. Innovative concepts and techniques as well as a variety of forms distinguish the work of this generation of photographersthe spectrum ranges from Tiina Itkonens documentary-style pictures of Greenland and Anni Leppäläs theatrically staged interiors to the painterly nature studies by Sandra Kantanen. Timothy Persons presents the twenty artists and their highly individual artistic stances.
