Radha and the nine other stories of this collection are urban fables of a third world city. The characters are normal human beings but in many cases they have to stoop low just to survive. These ten stories emanate from the dark alleys of the city, the characters veer like predators - they challenge the superficial sophistication. Are they sub-alterns? To an extent yes. But more importantly, they live and they exist. They are radical in their quest of life which they hope to conquer. The reading of the stories may be morbid, at times black yet the author hopes to reflect a slice of life which is not so known to the western audience. This collection is a homage to them - who hope in despair and triumph.
Amitava Nag writes poems and short fictions in English and Bengali, his topics mostly veering on the sub-alterns. A radical himself, his stories mostly deal with an individual s denial of the system. Amitava also edits cinema magazine Silhouette and writes extensively on cinema.
