Überraschend und gewitzt die Kunst der Finnin Pilvi Takala

Pilvi Takala ( 1981 in Helsinki) befasst sich mit der Konstitution und den Grenzen gesellschaftlicher Gruppen und Gemeinschaften. Ihre Videos, Installationen und Bücher basieren auf Interventionen im (halb) öffentlichen Raum. So geht die Künstlerin etwa in Bag Lady (2006 2011) mit einer durchsichtigen Plastiktüte voll Geld durch eine Einkaufspassage. Eine versteckte Kamera filmt dabei die Reaktionen der Passanten. Die vorliegende Werkmonografie enthält nahezu alle seit 2005 entstandenen Arbeiten von Pilvi Takala. Die Gestaltung des Buches entspricht Takalas künstlerischer Strategie und dem narrativen Gehalt ihrer Werke. Videos sind in Bildsequenzen wiedergegeben, und auch ein frühes Künstlerbuch ist vollständig reproduziert. Die Publikation enthält ferner Essays von Mika Hannula und Rael Artel sowie ein Interview mit der Künstlerin.

Pilvi Takala ( 1981 in Helsinki) deals with the constitutions and limits of social groups and communities. Her videos, books, and installations are based on interventions in (semi-)public spaces, and this first monograph documents most of her work since 2005. In Bag Lady (200611), for instance, the artist walks through a shopping mall carrying a clear plastic bag full of money, while a hidden camera films the reactions of the passers-by. The design of the publication reflects Takalas artistic strategies and the narrative nature of her work. Video works are illustrated with still sequences, and one of her early artists books is reproduced in its entirety. The volume includes essays by Mika Hannula and Rael Artel, as well as an interview with the artist. Exhibition schedule: Kunsthalle Erfurt, February 5April 9, 2012
