Raw Yet Real is a poetry compilation: It is a set of poems that are based on many true events in my life both direct and indirect. The poems are a direct creative impulse from my observation of the world around me. I don´t have much education in writing.
Since, my life has also been determined by drug abuse and prison. I wasted a lot of time and I almost watched my God given talent fade into thin air. The above mentioned motivation is at a time in my life where I wanted things to come right and I fought for my well being.
I have not achieved much but for me it is a great privilege to know that I have turned away from many self-destruction methods. Honestly! I could have died a long time ago. I could have spent many years in prison but non of this happened. This means that there was a greater event for my life.
Today I can only express myself and the life I have lived through my writing and poetry. This book comes from many different points of belief and understanding. Some poems were written under heavy influence of alcohol and drugs. While other poems came as an emphatic moment in my life. Some of my poems were written in great sympathy. Generally, the setting of all the poems were written in different years and times in my life. Some have been inspired by other people who shared a life with me.
I tried by all means to keep my poetry as raw and real because it is a true part of me. Since I am not that literate in grammar and in the English language to qualify as a writer. I can only qualify as a novice writer that is real.
The thread through the poems is from a spiritual point to a non-spiritual point. I don´t want to put any ideas into any ones mind with this but I just want to share my life experience. If someone learns from this it would be an added benefit, but it is also just a picture for you to understand a bit of what happens in other peoples lives.
I have a detailed account of my life which non of these poems can ever bring an image to your mind. That is why I have also been writing a book on my life. I don´t say that my life is special or whatever. I know that it is unique and it is my life. I have all the authority to publish it as whatever method that comes to my mind. So as I tried to work with some publishers they really tried to change my method and make this book what they believe to be the right book. This book is right because it is real and the poems in it speak of the truth you would see around my area.
