It is a long saga of very brave and simple but intelligent folk who lived on this island.It was more of a paradise than a piece of land trapped with water.They beautifyied it with their vivid imagination. They managed to live with its beasts and even love them. The animals of the island formed the rich material they drew on to concoct their elaborate folk tales that remained for generations. Thanks to storytelling that elongated their folk memory.

Dr. Mahmoud was born in 1961 in a small island in White Nile river called Umjar at an agricultural and pastoral setting. His family then moved to a nearby urban setting (Edueim), where he received his primary education at the Institute of Education Bakht er Ruda. He graduated with a BA in English and Linguistics from Khartoum University.
