Memory museum in Beirut is a project that, in a symbolical way, tells the story of the city during the times before, during and after the 15-years long civil war. In the foreground are the citizens Beiruts and their ethnically generated conflicts. The museum is non-conventional in its form, appearance and in its function, being a fully open public structure, accessible to anybody and anytime, thus enabling interaction between visitors. This project should create a means of connection between people, it should encourage a deeper reflection and should also emotionally communicate with its visitors. The leading idea behind this project is the attempt to create an alternative sight on Beirut´s history and the wish to support the reconcilliation processes in this multi-religious society.
