This book provides a comprehensive process of self-access material development. The study was divided into three phases: the exploratory, the material development and the main study. The first phase provides insightful findings from stimulated recall protocol, a new way of probing listening processing, illustrating how good EFL listeners used cognitive and metacognitive listening strategies in order to understand listening comprehension tasks. The findings from the first phase were then incorporated in the second phase of self-access material development. Finally, the completed materials were tried in the main study with a group of less-skilled first-year university students. The research findings shed a light on how to support EFL learners not only to become better listeners but also to become autonomous EFL learners.
