Sir David Brewster (1781 - 1868) was a Scottish physicist of international reputation. These memoirs of Sir Isaac Newton s life and career, first published in 1855, were the result of more than twenty years of research, using previously unknown correspondence and original manuscripts. Brewster´s own scientific interests, particularly in optics, gave him the ability to communicate Newton´s work. The book is illustrated with numerous drawings and graphics.
