This short book explores a core group of 40 topics that tend to go unexplored in an Introductory Economics course. Though not a replacement for an introductory text, the work is intended as a supplement to provoke further thought and discussion by juxtaposing blackboard models of the economy with empirical observations.

John Komlos war zwischen 1992 und 2010 Professor für Wirtschaftsgeschichte und Volkswirtschaftslehre an der LMU München. Er erlangte seinen Ph.D. an der Universität Chicago bei Nobelpreisträger Robert Fogel und lehrte an der Duke University, der University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), der University of Pittsburgh, der Universität St. Gallen, der Universität Wien und der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien.
