The International Yearbook for Hermeneutics represents one of the prominent currents in contemporary philosophy as well as in bordering disciplines. It gathers studies on questions concerning understanding and interpretation in all relevant fields, including philosophy, theology, jurisprudence, theory of science as well as literary and cultural studies. Günter Figal, geb. 1949; Studium der Philosophie und der Germanistik in Heidelberg; 1976 Promotion; 1987 Habilitation; seit 1989 Professor für Philosophie an der Universität Tübingen. Arbeitsgebiete: Klassische Antike mit Schwerpunkt Platon, Philosophie des 19. und 20. Jahrhunderts (Nietzsche, Heidegger, Kritische Theorie). Systematische Schwerpunkte: Hermeneutik und Phänomenologie, Zeit- und Geschichtsphilosophie, Kunstphilosophie, politische Philosophie. Mitherausgeber der Internationalen Zeitschrift für Philosophie.
