This book provides and investigation of how the investments in training to support leadership and management succession planning can be lost if proper communication of the succession goals does not occur. In this manuscript a mixed methods research study is conducted at a United States Department of Defense Scientific Organization that is actively planning for succession needed for a 35 percent leadership turnover. The study is focused on understanding by the participants and leaders within the organization of the goals for investment in the leadership and management training series targeted and skill development for the new leaders and managers.Dr. Richard Jeffries served in the U.S. Department of Defense in uniform and as a civil servant for over 35 years. He spend over 12 years working in the Human Capital Development field. He has published over ten research papers in meteorology and physical oceanography and this is his first research study in the field of Human Capital Development.
