This book is designed to introduce the fundamentals of optimization problems (that are often nonconvex), arising under the framework of resource allocation in wireless networks, to engineers, scientists, and applied mathematicians. The level of the presentation should be accessible to senior undergraduate and first-year graduate students, and should prove especially well suited as a self-study guide for practicing professionals and researchers. The primary motivation of this text is to make a significant contribution towards convexification of inherently nonconvex resource allocation problems. By stressing the interrelationships between optimal power/beamforming vector allocation and subsequent QoS enhancement of wireless systems, it is hoped that this new and unique perspective will be of perennial interest to other students, scholars, and employees in wireless/cellular communication disciplines.
Umar Rashid received his PhD degree from University of Technology, Sydney, Australia in Electrical Engineering in 2013. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Electrical Engineering, UET, KSK Campus, Lahore. His research interests include convex optimization, statistical signal processing and wireless communications.
