Thalassemia Major is Inherited Blood Disorder which is passed from parents to their children. The prevalence of Thalassemia is very high in Pakistan specially in South Punjab. This study is conducted to address the problems and miseries of families faced with thalassemia child. Their is a Need to implement the premarital screening in Pakistan to reduce the disease of thalassemia like Grace, Turkey, Iran which they compulsory implemented the premarital screening. In the present research the author addressed the needs of Thalassemia Patients and their families during treatment and identify the barriers they faced. Government, NGOs, Philanthropist, Social Workers should play the important role to minimize the miseries of Thalassemia Families in Pakistan. The health care providers should be encouraged to talk about Thalassemia as a public health problem in Pakistan and should enhance the public awareness to eliminate the Thalassemia in Pakistan.
I am working as a Social Welfare Officer in the Children´s Hospital & the Institute of Child Health Multan since 2005. I have been completed my PhD in Sociology from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Johar Ali, Vice Chancellor of Malakand University, Pakistan.
