This book focuses on the crisis-management leadership, diverse agendas, and conflicting narratives in the first seven days of Hurricane Katrina´s aftermath. The leaders´ discourse and communication patterns undermined the response and the protection of life and property. The unique levels of dialogue impeded collaboration and cooperation and obfuscated situational awareness. The book sets forth an examination of command and control and the incident command system. Lessons learned, recommendations, and solutions are presented.
