This book aims to show how an Australian SME food grains exporter has been able to access the Japanese market for food quality soybeans and corn. This firm has succeeded in entering this market despite entrenched competition from traditional suppliers in the USA and Canada and in the face of rigorous food safety and quality standards as required in this particular market. The set of strategic drivers required to enter the Japanese food grains market and enabling competencies implemented by an Australian SME food grain exporting company are detailed for use by other intending exporters of food grains to the Japanese market. A qualitative research method was used in the research undertaken on entering the Japanese food grains market. The research identifies clearly that if other SME food grain exporters are interested in exporting into such product markets then given they have the capacity to develop and implement such competencies as those outlined in this book then export success is possible.

This business is compounded by my interest in marketing to NE Asian countries with many cultural complexities.
