Dr. Stephen A. has gone beyond the traditional ways of looking at cinema and has designed a new paradigm for the futuristic study of Tamil cinema. The study has analyzed eight cultural elements that are relevant, dominant and sustaining Tamil cinema and proved that Tamil films have efficiently used them to connect the Tamil audience s core persona. In my opinion, this study is distinctive in introspecting the cultural themes and predicting the Futures of Tamil cinema. - S. Alex Parimalam, Asst. Professor, Department of Visual Communications, Loyola College, Chennai This research is an in-depth study on the underpinnings of Tamil Cinema and the never ending cultural themes that make impacts on Tamil society. A historic and futuristic critical analysis of Tamil Cinema in eight decades highlights various cultural themes that are recurrent. The author rightly examines the dynamics involved in constructing, deconstructing, reinforcing and popularizing certain cultural elements. The study on the Futures of the cultural themes is a unique contribution of this research. - Dr. I. Lourduraj, Director, Xavier Institute of Communications, Ranchi
