Schizothorax niger is a native fresh water snow trout of Kashmir which due to anthropogenic intervention is subjected to different pollution regimes besides pathological and stress conditions. The book by deliberating on histochemical and biochemical aspects of the snow trout, gives an insight into the energy demands of the fish in different seasons. The book is supposed to help cytologists understand cellular structure of testes, ovary and kidneys. Moreover the book will serve fishery biologists by providing them information about the fate of lipids, proteins and carbohydrates throughout the year.

Dr. G.N. Hajam is presently working as Associate Professor Zoology at Government Degree College Tral. He is also working as fisheries consultant with The Himalayan Ecological and Conservation Research Foundation, J&K. He has published research papers in various journals of national and international repute.
