The trend of film as a means of activism, be it environmental, political, etc. is a growing phenomenon in contemporary, global society. Filming for Freedom examines the evolution of Egyptian film in correlation with social activism over the final decade of the Mubarak Regime. Relationships between film, censorship, freedom of expression and legal confinements are explored relative to the ever-increasing dissatisfaction with the political system under President Hosni Mubarak.
