Considering the severe human rights violation in relation to torture and other forms of inhuman and degrading treatment in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), the author undertakes the research on the two cornerstones (for both national and international level), which interlock in the way to form a whole system: the prohibition of torture and the concept of prevention. In order to do so, the explanatory, exploratory, comparative and descriptive case study method will be applied. Since the war in the 90ies, BiH has been monitored by various international organisations. Those have developed own mechanisms and methods to ensure the functioning of the process of prohibiting torture and preventing it. The author undertakes a comprehensive approach: Starting from the UN level and then moving to the European level, the research shall stop at the National level and thus pay attention to a wide spectrum of prohibition/prevention mechanisms. Consequently, the aim of this research is directed towards analysing the approaches (including methods, mechanisms, etc.) all the various (inter)national organisations take. Furthermore, the results shall be analysed and compared.
