Der Titel der 12. Schweizerischen Plastikausstellung lautet Le Mouvement. Er soll nicht nur andeuten, dass Skulptur zugunsten von Performance hintangestellt wird, sondern auch, bis zu welchem Grad die verschiedenen Bedeutungen des Worts "Bewegung" die widerspruechliche Natur des oeffentlichen Raums und seiner Grundvoraussetzungen, widerspiegeln.
Mit Kuenstlertexten zu allen 59 Positionen sowie vier grundlegenden Essays: Bojana Cvejic zeigt auf, welche Rolle die Ideologie des Individualismus in der zeitgenoessischen Soloperformance spielt; Andre Lepecki untersucht die Beziehung zwischen Choreografie und Architektur und deren spezifische Art, sich den Ort anzueignen; Natasa Petresin-Bachelez gibt einen Ueberblick ueber die kuenstlerische Nutzung des oeffentlichen Raums im ehemaligen Ostblock; und Jan Verwoert hinterfragt, inwiefern Training und motorisches Gedaechtnis in unserer heutigen mechanisierten Welt relevant bleiben und zu Formen der Emanzipation fuehren koennen oder nicht.Vito Acconci, luciana achugar, Ai Weiwei, Francis Alys, Alexandra Bachzetsis,

The 12th iteration of the Swiss sculpture exposition "Le Mouvement" writes a brilliant new chapter in the project´s sixty-year history with the most radical presentation the format has yet seen. In keeping with its tradition of thought-provoking interventions, "Le Mouvement--Performing the City" undertakes a searching interrogation of the definition of art in the public sphere: it features not a single work of sculpture and is instead entirely dedicated to the genre of performance art in public settings. The two curators Gianni Jetzer (New York) and Chris Sharp (Mexico City) have conceived an exhibition that places particular emphasis on the human body in physical and social action. The book accompanying the exhibition presents unique documentary materials to introduce readers to legendary historic performance pieces since 1963 and surveys contemporary positions. The roster of fifty-nine contributing artists reads like a who is who of performance art today.
