As new media become ever more prevalent within the lives of students, they distance the students from relating to traditional teaching. However they also provide an opportunity for teachers to create an interactive classroom in which one is less limited to the structures that are proscribed. By using the methods described in this book, it is possible to take English teaching into the 21st century, teach them to use modern tools, educate them on the possibilities and risks that are ever-present in the world of new media and provide the students a level of autonomy previously unattainable.

Having moved from England to Austria in 2004, I began as a native speaker at a Sportgymnasium in Maria Enzersdorf. In 2007 I began studying English and History and in 2013 I qualified as a secondary school teacher. It was during this period that I carried out the project written about in the book.
