The wavelet is one of the evolving field of mathematics and signal processing which has been explored by researchers for more than two decades. It is also getting deployed in image compression and water marking very efficiently. The image compression algorithms plays a vital role in 1. Storing huge amount if image data in a give memory storage as memory is scarce resource. 2. Image streaming applications where image data is transmitted in real time with minimum delay. While, watermarking is used in copyright protection. In this book, author describes applications of discrete wavelet transform in image compression using 2-band conventional wavelet transform technique as well as M-band wavelets. This book will be helpful to undergraduate students to understand new technology of image compression, and it will be guide for master and researchers in the area of image compression.
