Over the last couple of years, there has been a surge in the movement of trade and cross border investment. This has been possible because of the substantial globalization of world economy. FDI is a tool for economic growth through its strengthening of domestic capital, productivity and employment. FDI to developing countries in the 1990s was the leading source of external financing and has become a key component of national development strategies for almost all the countries in the world as a vehicle for technology flows and an important source of non-debt inflows.
